| Frequently Asked
Questions |
| |
| Q: How much does it cost to hire an
attorney? |
| |
| |
A: There are generally 3 types of fee arrangements. The
first is a flat fee. Some services, such as appearances in court
for a hearing, or preparation of documents such as wills, deeds or
contracts, are charged on that basis. The second type of fee arrangement
is an hourly fee. As with many service professionals, I cannot always
estimate how much time must be spent on a case when it begins. In such
situations, fees are charged, and billed to you regularly, based upon
the amount of time that I have worked on your case. The third type of
fee is a contingent, or percentage fee, which is only charged if there
is a successful recovery of money. All fees
will be explained to you in writing at the time that you hire me to
represent you. |

|
| Q: I don’t know an
attorney. How do I hire one? |
| |
|
| |
A: As with other professional services, there are many
sources of information and referral. You can call your friends or learn
about an attorney from sources such as this website. Most importantly,
you should contact and talk to the attorney you are considering, so you
can discuss your legal problem or situation. Also meet with the
attorney, and then make a decision about whether you feel comfortable
with that attorney. |
